Victory Elementary School Reviews

With being in agreement with all the other comments. I must say at this very hour and moment I am so dissatisfied with Victory. The question is what are the children learning?? Where are the government dollars going to?? We are stationed here in Portsmouth so Victory is our zoned school, Why?? Brighton is right down the street. My children are being taught below level. And coming from two other advanced schools it makes you feel displeased. The communication with some of the staff is horrible. It is disorganized, there are no extra curriculum activities for the children during or after school. I'm hoping to some way some how change schools next year. I hope that the school gets better.

I'm truly concerned with this school! I agree with everyone's comments besides the one who said the school was good....We right now are looking into home schooling our kids due to this lack luster school. Plus no other school are taking Zone change requests....it is funny cause my house is closer to Brighton then Victory....the school should probably be renamed Defeat....the faculty and worst of all the children are not benefiting at this school at all.

wow, I am shocked by the reviews. My son did really well at this school. We came from Douglas Park and this school is alot better. My sons teacher taught him so much stuff. He would come home and tell me what he learned. The only issue, was the boys on the playground. My son loves to get involved with the wrong crowd.

What an awful place for a child to be in. My childs teacher was not helpful at all as I watched her struggle with the material and concepts. I had problems with the principal and staff and worked to have my child change teachers. The principal ignored phone calls from me and refused to listen to my complaints. She seemed to be in her own world. I am very unhappy with the quality of my daughter's education. The class size is large and there are problems with behaviors from other students that don't seem to get addresses. Next year I'm moving my child to a better school.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting some of the staff at victory and i must say it was not very pleasent. My family just moved and unfortunately this is their zoned school (which i dont understand when brighton is up the street). My kids come from john tyler and it is the best. So maybe, with help from concerned parents such as myself, this school will do much better.

I agree with both of these reviews. As a parent of a K5 student I am very conserned about the foundation this school is building for him. He has been there for a month and already I am looking into private schools in the area, if paying for a good education is what this has come to then so be it. Children need to know how to act in school and learn also. The fact they don't provide them with computers (which he had in Preschool) says alot to me. I don't like this school or the response i get from his teacher (which is nothing). Parent and Teachers are suppose to work together to build the childrens future. Victory just doesn't care. The office staff is nice but very unhelpful and spiteful if things go wrong when it is there fault. Look into all options before sending your child..

As a teacher at the school, I agree with the last guy. I've taught in multiple schools over the last 7 years and this is by far the worst school I've ever been associated with. The entire school philosophy is about looking good and not about the kids at all. Classes are oversized, faculty is understaffed, and resources are not available. That parent is right. The principal talks down to everyone: students, faculty, and parents. There is no discipline system and the principal thinks it's the greatest place ever. The faculty is not even given a chance to do their jobs. I'm sure there is a way this school could be worse, but I can't think of one. I give it one star, only because 0 stars wasn't an option.

This school is horrible. My son went for 2 months before I pulled him out due to lack of discipline within the school. The principal talks down to you and the vice principal will do nothing to help you either. I would never send my child to this school and I would not recommend any parent send their child to it. They put so much money into making it esthetically pleasing and did nothing to change the employees. I cant even go into how badly the office is run and how unfortunate it is for the children who have no choice but to go there.
