Azalea Middle School Reviews

i also used to go to this school, and i thought that the learning structure was very well put together. i also say that the overall connection that the teachers had with the students was great-Brennon Kroon put this

I used to teach at this school. This is a very out-dated school with old equipment and classrooms. The school had very bright and wonderful students; however, a majority of the students were reckless, irresponsible, and generally distruptive to the educational process. Parent teacher contact was highly encouraged; however, it rarely produced any changes in student behaviors. The administration was not present and often arrogant in regards to teachers concerns and questions. The schools achievement numbers have been progressing, but those numbers always seemed 'sketchy' to the teachers at the school. The website is only good for contacting teachers through the email pages My tenure at this school was a horrible experience and I would not reccommend this school to any child, parent, or teacher. I have since moved on to another school in the Hampton Roads Area and would give this school zero stars if that was

My daughter went to this school for 3 years. Each year started off great but then regressed such that I never knew what was going on. Parent signature forms for projects are sent home to be signed for a grade but when the form isn't signed no one follows through to make sure the parents are aware of the project (and thus results in many missing assignments, bringing the grade for the class down!). The guidance office is of no help and I can never get anyone to return my calls. The school website is good in theory, but is not used or updated past the first few weeks of school. I give this school a D-!

As a former student at azalea, this school doesn't even deserve one star. A very horrible school. All the teachers care about is their paycheck. They won't stay back to help.

Horrible school, if it wasn't for grinding the info out of my kids, I'd have no idea what's going on at the school. The have a website, but it's practically useless. The sports program is bad to say the least.

This is an awesome school. You get the feeling the teachers and administrators really care about all the kids, form the first time I went in the office, I got treated like part of the family. All schools should be like Azalea. This is the best.

I feel that they need to have the auditorium remodled. The teacher have been great with my child his academics. However the school needs to offer more sports. The school need more money to make it a better facility for the students & staff. They need more computers in the class rooms also. They need to offer more foreign languages, this is needed before the student reaches high school. Because we live in a very diverse area, this is very much needed.

Principal 'leadership'....She was alway 'in a meeting' or just plan unavailable whenever i tried to see her. To make an appointment to see her is a act in itself - you call, make the request, they relay the information to her, they call you back to schedule the meeting, with it often times being a day or two later and being passed down to a lower level employee who then tries to handle it over the phone - what a mess. Teacher 'quality' - just there to receive the paycheck. They seem to have the policy of pushing a child down and seeing how long they can hold them down before they drop out of school or get in serious trouble, then they label the child a problem kid. Where is the compassion to help succeed, to nurture and help grow = teacher.
