Christ the King Elementary School Reviews

My son currently goes to this school. He was in pre-K3 because his birthday fell 5 days short of him being able to go to pre-K 4. When I talked to the administrator at first she told me that there was nothing she could so about it and then in the same breath she said well I have to look at his birth certificate, like I don't know when my child's birthday. While he was in pre-K3 he was outside most of the time. This school really decreased what my child learned before he went to this school. I don't know how it is for the grade school, but the pre-K curriculum is not satisfactory.

This has been such an amazing experience for us. We were transferred here three years ago via. Navy, and I am so sad we are being transferred again. First of all, Ms. Cotton, the director is a SAINT. The teacher's are fabulous and the family atmosphere cannot be beat. Also, the technology labs, science labs, and journalism studio are top notch. Your kids will be extremely well prepared for the real world, while working in an extremely loving environment. We are Catholic, but you do not need to feel that you need to be Catholic to attend. It is an open, loving, academic environment. I cannot express to you how much you will not regret going.

When my famly moved here from Naples, Italy 3 years ago, Principal Miriam Cotton was waiting with uniforms in hand for us to get off the plane. Since that day, my children have experienced the most warm, loving and Christ-centered environment imaginable. The academics are challenging and the test scores bear out the quality of education received at CTK. The school has undergone a complete transformation of physical facility and is the leader in Norfolk in education-based technology. We could not be happier with the total education being offered to our children.

We have been part of the CTK family since 1999. Both academic excellence and character building are emphasized at Christ The King. The monthly Peacemaker Award acknowledges children for being kind and considerate, qualities often ignored in today's society. Our sons have done exceptionally well at CTK. The principal is such a motivator and encourages each child as an individual. The Center for Excellence in Learning is amazing, giving students opportunities to learn with the most advanced technology available. The teachers inspire students to achieve and believe in themselves. It is truly a wonderful school.

My wife and I have seen tremendous growth in our 6th grade son. He has been with CTK since the 1st grade. Although our commute takes approx. 30 minutes each day, he hates to miss school! His reading, writing and math skills are constantly improving. We have a partnership with his teachers. His teachers are steadily working with us on his comprehension skills. It is a team effort and we stay in touch with each other. In the area of mathematics, CTK and Norfolk State University (NSU) have established a partnership. CTK is no different from other schools across the nation in its mathematics offerings. NSU and CTK are moving in the right direction with college students/professors going to the CTK campus and helping areas needed to assure student success. Success starts at the top! Ms. Cotton is a great leader! We believe in CTK!

the Math program leaves alot to be desired. Both my kids attended CTK then went on to Public schools in Norfolk. Both had problems the moment they entered the public classroom. needed tutoring to get up to the most elementary

Our three Children have several choices of private schools in Norfolk and we chose CTK for its safe, family environment, parental involvement, and superior leadership and education. Additionally CTK has a truely diverse environment, which is somehing that is lacking in the other private schools in Norfolk.

Our daughter has been going for 2 years and she loves it. The teachers are like another set of quality parents. She has learned a lot and has fun doing it. We commute 30 minutes just to take her there.

This is one of the most progressive Catholic Schools in VA. I would highly suggest a visit to see for yourself.

I think Christ the king is a great school for anyone. Yes, it's a Roman Catholic school but it teaches our children another religion. This happens by kids Pre-k -8TH Grade going to Roman Catholic Mass every Wednesdays. Not only is the religion factor good but the teachers are great and they will make sure that every child will reach sucess. It was a very excellent school for a very great price.

There's not a day that goes by that my children, a seventh grader and Preschooler (Pre-K), don't look forward to going to school. Christ the King provides a wonderful environment for learning, as well as focusing on character growth as an individual. Having a child in both the middle school and preschool, I can attest to the school having a superb and rigorous academic program from Pre-K on up to middle school. When you walk inside the doors of this school, you can immediately tell that it is some place VERY special. We are so grateful to be a part of this wonderful community.

I am a recent graduate of Christ the King School and am now in a magnet medical science program in Norfolk Public schools. I loved CTK and received a great education! I was so prepared for High School that I am now making straight A's. The best thing CTK gave me was the ability to make the right choices when faced with tough decisions. I will always cherish my memories of CTK and Ms. Cotton! Go Cougars!
