    camo - there is a inner pure white torso that is surrounded by a outer shell that is painted exactly like the background. ends up looking real cool from different angles. i guess i showing how alot of people hide the simple beauty within themselves by a complicated, intricate web of static outside. there is a interesting duality within the shapes. i will show one other view of this peice.

    arlington - i went to a funeral for my cousin ben's grandfather at arlington cemetary. the whole feel of the place with it's stone eagles and lines and lines of fallen soldiers made me feel like they were still standing at attention. the feeling of honor, service, and tradition struck me very profoundly. these men served, struggled, and died for the freedom we take for granted everyday. it was a very powe

    eclipse - i am not 100% sure of the date on this one, but it's pretty close. this was the first lunar eclipse where i ever really paid attention. i have always felt the moon and earth have a relationship, the moon being a barren rock that protects our life abundant mother earth, bearing the scars of his sacrifice on his face. the moon affects so much of our life; the ebb and flow of the tides, the passin

    self portrait in the bright sun - i drew this with colored pencils really quick in my backyard. the white paper was totally blinding me while i was sketching so i decided to put my squinting into the drawing. i thought it would made me look like clint eastwood. yeah, i know i'm silly, but i thought it was pretty funny at the time.

    the wave - i found this picture online, sorry i do not know who took it, but i liked it so much that i painted it. to me it represents the pure energy and power of the ocean.

    dead bird - when i was a little boy i came across a dead bird on the ground. it was the closest i had ever been to a bird, to the detail within it's feathers and between it's wings and tail. it was so soft looking, peaceful and pretty, but out of the eye socket ants were crawling out. i think i petted the bird. such a strange mix of death and beauty. i added another dimension so if you look at it only fr

    my first window painting - i wanted to see what would happen if i painted a window. ended up pretty cool. funny, the other side has alot more detail to it, doesn't look like you are looking through a window though

    sunset - sunset a block from my father's house. the sun started setting, i was watching it with my girl. it ended up being so fantastic i ran as fast as i could back to pop's house to borrow a camera from him and this is the outcome of all that ruckus.

    the pier - i grew up crabbin', fishin', boatin' and bein' thrown off this pier by most my cousins. (must be why i am such a good swimmer.) it might not look like much, but it symbolizes my family and i have seen some of the most beautiful sunsets and sunrises here, (and i keep them for myself, selfish bastard i am.) it is a constant place of serenity, balance and peace for me.

    painted sky - on a road trip with my father, we were crusing down 29 south coming from lynchburg. i saw the sky as the sun was setting and said to my pop,

    moon through icy trees - after a huge ice storm i went out with my cousin andrew and we saw a forest coated in ice, with the moon coming through, illuminating the edges of the trees in an absolutely beautiful spectacle. i went home and painted it immediately.

    Primary - i started with one triangle and built a spiral off the twisting possibilities of combining triangles. I used shades of the primary colors as a simplistic joining of the cascading colors toward the white light they fuse into at the center. of course white light is broken into every color visible, but i thought it looked cool, that's all. a simple progression i worked on backwards as i seem to do

Artist Bio

Born and raised in Ptown, VA, I have been a Lifeguard, Painter (houses not art), Construction Worker, Carpenter, Sailor (sailboats not military,) Model, Florist, Icecream Vendor, Landscaper, Graphic Designer, Demolition Man, Beachbum, Homeless Wanderer, Cartoonist and a Tree Farmer, (that's the good stuff!)  I love sculpting, sketching, painting, playing on photoshop, taking photos and writing stupid stories; in general creating things that speak to people: things that communicate a common feeling or a slice of time/space.  For fun I tree farm, surf (not all that good though), kayak, aikido, camp, bike, hike, ride four wheelers - pretty much anything outdoors that ends up being fun.  As for age, I ain't too old but i ain't a spring chicken either.  As for looks - I'm friggin' beautiful; just ask me, I'll tell you. I really want to create a legacy of quality art but i am and have been for years the definition of a starving artist.  It kinda gets old.  I have had more artworks stolen from me than i have ever sold!  I would like to show everyone that people can truly live free, do what they want to do, (as long as it does not hurt others) not what they have been programed to do and carve themselves a real foothold in this corporate minded, money-driven illusion of a economy.  Howsomever, I have been knocked down over and over, but like the idiot I am I keep getting back up.  I am just too dumb to die and to stupid to conform to a reality that i do not see as real.  Money... Psfff.  Its just paper.  And paper's dead trees.  But I need money to create the change I desire in the world.  It's a vicious cycle and I don't know how to get out of it.  But it won't stop me from trying.  I'm stupid that way.  Seems to me like there are fewer and fewer like me.  So fight the power, brother! Anyway, if anyone is interested in any of the pieces of art I am showing on this website you can BUY quality prints and sometimes, I still have the originals.  I would love to barter services or stuff for them, send me an email and we can talk.
